Free Geek Toronto focuses on involving our volunteers in meaningful work that lets them grow their own skills and knowledge while helping us keep technology accessible.
Volunteers help with many aspects of our operations, including marketing and communication, acting as ambassadors for our mission, sorting through the tech donations for usable items, and running workshops.
There’s more to being a volunteer at Free Geek Toronto than simply refurbishing computers!
Volunteers are involved in all aspects of Free Geek Toronto’s operations, including:

Free Geek Toronto offers volunteer opportunities to build-skills around computer hardware and open-source software. People get hands-on experience working directly with hardware, building troubleshooting skills, and technical knowledge.
Volunteers also help with getting the word out about Free Geek Toronto via social media, local events, and networking with other organizations.
The minimum time commitment is roughly four (4) hours a month, whether participating virtually or in-person. Volunteers are always welcome to do more, but that's the minimum requirement for active volunteers.
The first step to volunteering at Free Geek Toronto is to register and attend one of our virtual Volunteer Information Sessions. They usually occur once a month (except for July and December), usually on Wednesday evenings.
Please note that to volunteer at Free Geek Toronto you have to be over the age of 18.
