This Earth Day you can make a big difference for our small organization! As an active advocate for a circular economy, Free Geek Toronto is doing its utmost to help minimize negative impacts on the environment. We take in unwanted technology, and through an exhaustive process, are able to determine what can be reused and what has to be recycled.
Pocket-sized digital cameras are having a comeback. The aesthetics of digicam photos reflect a trend towards more inclusive and authentic art. Instead of taking, making and editing pixel perfect pictures with expensive gear and the “latest” software, creators are simply going outside at the right time of day, happily taking snapshots with grain, noise, blur, and red eye, then sharing what they love.
E-waste, or electronic waste, refers to discarded or end-of-life electronic devices. E-waste includes mobiles, laptops/desktops, and computer accessories, such as keyboards and speakers. It can also include televisions, digital cameras, or even lightbulbs; any item that requires electricity to operate.

Free Geek Toronto and NewMakeIt are running a computer reuse collection event most Sundays, until May 29. Through this York Region-funded initiative, you can take your old computers and other devices to 621 Timothy St., where they will be refurbished and eventually redistributed to those in need.
